Hachiko Waits Review

I bought this book for my 23 y.o. daughter who loves animals and reading. After seeing the recent release "Hachi ~ A Dog's Story" starring Richard Gere....I knew she would love this book. She read the book first....then saw the movie. The book is set in Japan, where the actual events took place. She could really picture the characters....Hachi, The Professor, etc. by the authors descriptive verse. Although the movie is set in the USA and brought to modern times, the story....absolutely true...is hard to believe. The loyalty of this beautiful Akita dog is a real wonder. Very inspiring and a must read (and see) for the animal lover.

Hachiko Waits Overview

“What a good dog you are. What a fine dog you are. Hachi, you are the best dog in all of Japan.”

Professor Ueno speaks these words to his faithful dog before boarding the train to work every morning. And every afternoon, just before three o’clock, Hachi is at the train station to greet his beloved master. One day, the train arrives at the station without the professor. Hachi waits.
For ten years, Hachi waits for his master to return. Not even Yasuo, the young boy who takes care of Hachi, can persuade him to leave his post.
Hachiko Waits, a novel inspired by a true story, brings to life the legendary Akita who became a national symbol for loyalty and devotion. This is a must-read for dog lovers of all ages.

Something for Children's Bedtime Reading - Ronald R. Hammersley - Palm Bay, FL, USA
This is really a short book, and it is written for young children - just the thing for reading a bedtime story to the kids. Hachiko was real; the book has been fictionalized in part.

Hachiko - bigguy -
The book was a gift for a student teacher that my son had in 5th grade. This is the best publication of this story. Every kid that reads this book loves it.

Hachi....we should follow his example - M. Quinn - Plains, PA USA
The best book/movie I have ever read and seen that is true. The loyalty of this amazing dog goes beyond the call of duty. It makes you feel so warm and good inside to realize in a world that is so concerned about material things and themselves there is good and you don't have to look far. It will make you look at your pets in a new light. Being an avid reader, this story by far is the best.
